Pat Lacy formed a volunteer organization named Therapy Dogs and Associates in 1984. Every month the group visits patients in hospitals and nursing homes in the Richmond area. There are about thirty dogs of all ages and breeds in the group who have been selected by Pat based on their obedience skills and temperament. All of the dogs have completed obedience training classes and many have been awarded Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International recognition.
